Hi there, my name is Paolo Conti.
In the music scene they call me “Big Paul”, I think not so much because they think i’m a great musician, but more because i am a big man!
I was born in Turin in 1965 and I have been a Monk of the of the Christian Universal Souls Church since 1992. In my life, apart from spiritual research, I have always had two great passions: music and good food. Thus, having never thought that one thing should exclude the other, this alchemy of impulses ended up becoming my daily occupation. The life of a Munk brings me to meet many people and often to learn about their problems. The commitment that I took, to learn to listen and to help them in some way, is a never-ending introspective work upon myself.
My passion for cooking, which I developed more than anything else directly on the field, has led me to become the Chef of the vegetarian refreshment area of the Divine Mother of Joy Association inside the Monastery of the Universal Souls since 2011. Every weekend, helped by wonderful volunteers, I get the chance to cook for guests of various nationalities (it’s a great challenge to meet everyone's tastes).
And then there’s music… Someone once said: “The Lord works in mysterious ways”. Well… the ways of music are quite mysterious too!
In my University days, where I studied Business and Administration, i started off as a young guitarist who studied little but played a lot until late at night in local pubs and bars in Turin. I had a presumptuous ambition to suggest almost exclusively only my own compositions. And so, by dodging rotten vegetables and receiving some shy applauses, I started to give way to my creative side.
I started from blues and jazz and I arrived to religious and meditation music, wandering around in pop and ethnic sounds, writing lyrics and music for theatre, sport events, radio and television broadcasting. I have cooperated with several artists of national standing. In short, I’ve had the opportunity to encounter a bit of all colours.
I am not trying to make a methodical list of my artistic curriculum because I do not care to be on the market. I am a Monk and I think that art, as a positive energy for the spirit, makes sense only if it is shared.
Therefore, in the section Music & Events you can find a selection of my compositions.
The selectable thumbnails open pop-ups with further informations and links to my YouTube channel “VivalaMusika Paolone”, where you can listen to the songs for free.
The section Photos & Curiosities is pretty self-explanatory.
Thank you for your visit!
